Although it’s not the best choice if you’re looking for an absolute bargain, it’s certainly one of the brightest and best. Auctions have been held every Sunday here since 1979 and even if you’re not bidding, strolling through the wonderful collections here is a good excursion into yesteryear. You’ll find carpets, rugs, works of art, mirrors, lights, antique and contemporary furniture and jewellery. Lots Road is open for viewings between Wednesday and Sunday. Chiswick Auctions

Located at 1 Colville Road, London W3, Chiswick Auctions has been going for two decades, bringing together fabulous collections of furniture, fashion, jewellery, rugs, antiquarian books, musical instruments, ceramics, glass and much, much more. Head to to look at the catalogue. Viewings take place on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, with auctions on Tuesday. Some goods are for immediate sale.

Criterion Auctioneers & Valuers

In business since 1989, Criterion has two salesrooms in London and prides itself on holding the capital’s largest weekly auction. At you can view the catalogue of antiques and bid by all the usual methods (in person, by phone, online etc). The salesrooms are in Islington and Wandsworth.

High Road Auctions

A newer auction house, High Road is on Chiswick High Road, with auctions on Tuesday evenings. Valuations are available seven days a week and there are weekly furniture, silver, jewellery and ceramics sales. Visit for all the details. The same company has a branch in Twickenham, too.
