Our Favouirte Things to do in London When It’s Cold

It’s official – like it or loathe it, a cold front is upon us, and we’re about to be knee-deep in snow. Memes across social media are announcing it. We’re all bracing ourselves for the continual reports of snow, pictures of snow people, complaints of car issues and cold takeaway meals after delivery. It’s time to get out the extra coat, woolly hat and gloves; we’re in for a cold one.

The question is – what is there to do when the weather is cold? Some of us are lucky enough to get the time off work, others who can work from home, not so much. Apart from sending emails, doing some housework and the like, it can get very dull during harsh weather conditions. Fear nor – the Aussie team are in your corner. Here are some of our top suggestions for thing to do in London when the cold front lands.

Things to do in London When It’s Cold –

The cold front is here, and it’s causing everyone to make their hibernation plans to ride out the storm. Our advice is – don’t burrow in this winter. There are so many things to do in London; you won’t want to miss out just because of some frozen rain.

Wrap up snug and head out to see what London has to offer. Get the thick winter coat out, and if necessary, put an extra fleece on underneath and layer up. You won’t want to miss out.

Morocco Medina – if you’re looking for an excellent night out, head to the Queen of Hoxton. Morocco Medina is a pop-up event that takes place on their rooftop. You’ll be met with warm, open fires and a variety of cocktails to help get rid of the winter chill.

Greenwich Planetarium – fancy a trip to space? Well, everything’s possible in London. The Royal Greenwich Planetarium is a fantastic solution to the winter boredom and blues.

Becoming Shades – Vault Festival 2018 – this event is a must for culture vultures. Becomes Shades is a circus experience like none other. You’ll be whisked into another world of Persephone’s journey into Hades! But you’ll have to hurry; the event is selling out quickly.

Winterland – for anyone who wants a competitive activity, there is Winterland. You’ll be led into an enchanted winter wonderland where you can test out your curling skills. There is alpine mini golf, heated igloos and lodges to capture the experience. With plenty of winter food and drink to help make a night of it.

Dead Drop – there is a mission waiting for you and your friends. It’s time to put your Sherlock Holmes cap on and summon Watson. Dead Drop is a murder mystery event that takes place in 1969. You and your team must solve a mission to avert a Cold War catastrophe! This is a unique event that is perfect for armchair sleuths.

Other Indoor Activities to Keep You Busy –

For those of us who are less adventurous or have possibly succumbed to a cold, there is still plenty of indoor activities. One of our favourites is to binge watch Netflix or Amazon. We live in an amazing time where we can literally watch an entire series of our favourite show. What better excuse to watch the series one and two of Stranger Things than a harsh winter chill?

Dust off the board games and get your family and friends over to make a night of it. It’s an old-school suggestion, but some people even have parties where they play Risk or Monopoly. You can’t beat a game of Pictionary or Charades with some excellent company.

You won’t like this one, but if you’ve put off any indoor DIY tasks now might be the time to roll up your sleeves. We apologise in advance if your other half has read this and is writing a DIY ‘to-do’ list.

If you were planning on giving the house a thorough clean in April, you could start a pre-Spring clean now. Again, it’s a snooze-fest suggestion, but you’ll be able to pat yourself on the back with a spotlessly clean home.
